Favourite quote or mantra: “Each day is a small lifetime. Live a good life today”
“I’m running the London Marathon for Home-Start RKH because…”
Home-Start RKH makes a daily difference to families in the local community that I work in and being able to support that means a lot to me. If I can make even a small contribution to a team that has a very large impact in supporting families that are facing challenging times, then running the marathon for this cause is a privilege that is humbly motivating.
What motivates you most during training — especially on the tough days?
Training is the best way for me to either feel energised and prepare for the day ahead, or to destress and leave a hard day behind. Regularly training ensures that I am at my best in other aspects of life. The fear of failure and letting others down by not completing the marathon is what keeps me going on the tough days.
What part of Home-Start’s work feels closest to your heart?
As a father of two living overseas away from my closest family support, I know firsthand how crucial support can be. I am lucky to have a wider network to help me in the UK. Many families aren’t as fortunate, and the way Home-Start steps in to fill that gap and provide support is what feels closest to my heart. If I can do my part by running the London Marathon to raise needed funds to continue this wonderful work, then that is a privilege in itself.
What are you most excited about on marathon day?
The crowds, the atmosphere on the day, and see my two boys at the finish line – that’s what I’m most excited for.
What’s your go-to post-run treat or celebration?
Beer and Pizza
If someone is thinking about supporting you or Home-Start, what would you want to say to them?
If someone’s thinking about supporting me or Home-Start, I’d want them to know that their donation and support are going towards a wonderful cause and a fantastic team that make a daily difference to families in the local community by ensuring that they have someone to turn to when they need support.
